Just a quick question. MOT tomorrow and just noticed I have one rear fog light on the drivers side. Assuming this is correct and that the near side isn't used in the UK?

You should have two rear fog lamps and two reversing lamps.

However, the MoT test should only test the offside rear fog lamp, which should be operable. This one is mandatory, and when only one fog lamp is fitted it must be in the centre or offsied (not on the nearside).
I can't find anything in the manual for reversing lamps, but my Boxster has two - I don't belive they are tested.

Try this link for the techy info. http://www.motuk.co.uk/manual/contents.htm

Hope this helps, but I'd bow to anyone with greater knowledge than I. :)

Edit: Just checked mine, and I've only got one too!! Offside only. Handbook doesn't say, but does refer to "rear fog light" (singular) in some cases.

Thanks for the info.

It did pass (with no problems) with just an offside light, so maybe they don't test this ot this is enough.

Reversing lamps are not in the Test and IIRC there only needs to be one Fog lamp on the drivers side

Only when I see you Lindsay

Incidentally, I had to change the near side rear tail light on my Boxster, and there's a bulb where the fog light is :?:

Hi All

It's my first time on the forum and I was going to ask the same question!
I had a tail light out and when I replaced that, I found out that it had blown a fuse as well. This took out all the side lights (front and rear) on the nearside and as i checked to see if they all worked again the nearside foglight didn't come on. There was a bulb there so I changed it and still no joy. My guess is that it's a dummy socket although it looks like all the gubbins is there for 2 foglights - anyone need a foglight bulb!?!

I'd feel better if someone could confirm for sure though. Mine's a 2000 Boxster.

Cheers
Jason
