Last Wednesday I had my Boxter collected by my local OPC to be taken for a full service and MOT. (Apperently, even though I drive it very little, you can't have two minor services back to back.) When I dropped my key in, I pointed out that I needed a new nearside front side light. Needless to say it failed the MOT on a significant amount of rust & pitting on the front brakes. So I needed new discs & pads. But no mention of the side light, which I again commented on.

Amazingly, after spending enough money equivalent to a luxury Caribbean holiday, I noticed upon the return of my car, that the side light had not been replaced. Amazingly still, when the service manager asked if I was joking he then said that it must be an intermittant problem and it would have been picked up in the MOT if it wasn't working. I pointed out that this light was not a secret and as we ALL new about and I had asked for it to be replaced, then it should have been done. :(

He agreed to do it on Saturday morning at no charge. Very kind.

So I drove back to the OPC and was then told, that while they were replacing the light, they noticed that BOTH my reversing lights were not working. Eh? It must be the switch needing replacing he said. Oh, and they would have noticed on the MOT or my major service that my reversing lights were not working. So therefore it must have happened since. Yet, I only drove the car from home to the OPC. It was less than 48 hours later. :x

Is it me? If they were all a tad negligent on the side light, then who is to say that they all missed the reversing lights as well. Does a driver have to inspect the car for work done as soon as they get it returned and check all is in order? Thought that was why I put it into the hands of a main dealer.

I await to hear on Monday what the service manager is going to say. But I am not happy.

I wouldn't be happy either. :( If you pointed out a fault it should have been dealt with.
Let us know how you get on with the service manager

Oooerr! I must be plain unlucky. Or something is wrong.
Barely 2 weeks after my MOT & major service, I have no reversing lights and also noticed a brake light isn't working. Are all these little lamps programmed to fail one after the other I wonder?

Man at Porsche Center said the reversing light failure is 'probably' the switch for the reversing lights, and he said my bulbs are both fine so I guess he must have checked them both. I am still awaiting to hear just how much money I am expected to part with. ... Anyone have any idea??

As for the brake light I was wondering if I could pop into Halfords to get a new lamp & fit it myself. Looks simple enough.

Lindsey

Halfords will fit the bulb for about £2.

A little bit cheaper than the OPC or buy the bulb and we'll fit it next Wednesday for you.
