I'm looking for a repair / restoration manual. Doesn't have to be super detailed. I need a crash course on the Boxster. Been around speciality cars all my life - so even a parts manual would suffice. I just need to see what goes where. German language one OK - I have a German business partner.

Boxster body swap project.

Rather than a workshop manual as such the one I had was 101 Projects for your Boxster. USA by the guy who runs Pelican (I think) available on Amazon & I found it as good as a manual.

Thanx Jim - just looked it up on Amazon.

There's that one and the German language book.

Think I'll get them both.

I find restoration books and parts books as good as anything for general assembly / what goes where. Actual tech specs available on my workshop CD.

Thanx again for the headsup.

Both books mentioned are excellent so you wont go wrong with either of them. The 101 Projects covers all the basic mechanics, servicing, mods (brakes, filters, suspension, I.C.E, exhaust, etc). An idiots guide would be a harsh description but it takes you through all the basics with step by step instructions & pictures. The Bently manual covers everything.

I have both & tend to go to the Bently manual first.

I think 101 Projects suits your amateur DIY mechanic with the Bently Service manual for those of us with more experience/skills.

Worth noting both books are listed as only covering up to 2004

Thanx everyone for the input.

Initially interest is in the early cars as I'm guessing they would be ideal candidates for a makeover. IE - cheap, and probably in need of some TLC !

The guy that does our C Type replica Jaguar clocks is currently looking at making 356 VDO replica faces.

We're getting quite excited by the prospect of this project - probably 6 months to production.

BUYER BEWARE !!!!!!!! The book in German language "Das Boxster 986 / 987 Schrauberhandbuch" is EXACTLY the same as the title "101 Projects for Your Porsche Boxster".

I have pointed this out to the suppliers Wordery and they said they will make it clear in the listing.

They also said I would get a full refund for the German language book - we'll see.

Whatever - the book is excellent and gives a good insight into maintaining / repairing the car.Good colour pix and printed on art quality paper - not recycled toilet paper.
