Hi Folks,
New to this so bear with me.
I've got a Boxster 2.7, yr 2000, approx. 88,000mls, in reasonable condition. What I'm experiencing is the dash warning lights come on as usual when the ign is turned on but when the engine fires up and they should usually all go out the speedo, rev counter and oil/fuel gauge lights are coming on, not full brightness, and flickering erratically. when it first started they would go out and all would be as normal. recently they've come on and stayed on for the length of my journeys.
Any ideas folks??

Also the car tends to cut out intermittently when the engine is approaching idle speed. I've been advised this could be something to do with the camshaft chain adjuster or it's solenoid. The engine runs well despite this fault but as you can imagine it has caught me unawares several times. So I'm keen to get it sorted. Has anyone heard of or experienced these faults.??
Thanks
Mechtech.

How old is the battery? Low voltage causes weird faults on modern cars.

Hi
The battery is fine, recently replaced with a quality brand. Plenty of power, restarts every time it cuts out without needing to press the throttle.
Could it be the speedo head itself. The fault doesn't affect the outside lights, they remain stable.
Thanks.

As Jim says the battery is the first place to start so all be it you have recently replaced it check the connections on it are tight & its voltage with/without engine running to eleminate the simple things (battery, alternator, loose earth etc) before you start taking other things apart. Always worth plugging a code reader in too.
