Sorry for what could be a simple question, but how do I remove the PCM from my 986? The unit works except for having no illumination - a common fault apparently.

I have seen prices in the region of £200 to have it repaired. Does anyone have any recommendations on a repairer, preferably Cardiff area.

Thanks

Aza

According to the Bently service manual you need to remove the horse shoe shaped panel with rear demist switch etc in it (it clips in so gently prise the bottom out with a plastic trim tool or similar then pull upwards). Once this is removed you will be able to get your hands into sides of the PCM unit where theres a clip towards the top half either side that needs pressing in which will allow it to be pulled forwards. Can't help on repairers but sure others will be along......

loads of youtube stuff for this.

I would probably buy a replacement unit for that rather than spend £200 on that unit.

Lots of info here, you can get something that looks factory (thread has removal instructions too):

I replaced mine with an Alpine unit a few years ago, so much better with Bluetooth and a decent sat nav.
