Turns out one o' mine has a circular (about 3-4 inch diameter) damp patch on it. Does it need replacing or can it wait? I don't think I've ever used the aircon, and I'm not likely to, so maybe I can just forget it?

Not using it will kill it any way. Doesn't yours have climate control?
It won't cause any problems but if you leave it & the pump dies then the recommisioning costs will be high. You may not want it but the next buyer may well do. Mine was always on Auto all year round.

Generally speaking with air-con it's a case of 'use it or lose it', hence it's always on, on my own cars. Especially useful this time of year for de-humidifying properties.

As Jim says, leaky condensers aren't an issue per se, but if your pump dies you could be into a hefty bill to re-commission. If you're into the car long term and don't use the air-con it's no biggie.

Ta Jim / Rich - reckon I'll find the best quote (had '£368 for both' so far), cheers.
