Just a quick hi,been a secret porsche admirer for many years ,but as we get older the wife and I have decided its time to take the plunge into porsche ownership .So we are on the lookout for a 987 around
2005-6 to start our porsche journey. There will be lots of stupid questions about boxsters so please forgive me .Do you think ownership is possible of a 987 for around £8-9k??

With limited knowledge, its probably a wise decision to join TIPEC and get along to your Regional Area meeting. There is a lot of knowledge out there and there are a lot of great people willing to help out.
In my opinion, you may be better off seeking out a really good 986 model with a forest full of recent paperwork to support mileage, servicing etc.
You won't be disappointed with a good, well looked after Boxster whether 986 or 987. They are a fantastic model, but just like anything you buy, you get what you pay for.
Join the club, get along to a meeting and have a chat. You will learn so much more chatting face to face.

Hope you find a good'un

Have a look on Boxa.net its one of the best Boxster forums out there with plenty of folk in the know.

http://www.boxa.net/forum/

Surprised dealer has put price up as prices should be lower this time of year for convertibles with dealers not wanting to sit on them until the spring when prices go up again!

Ok things have happened today that are a first. We now own a boxster 2.7 987 in atlas or seal grey (i think) a nice steady drive back at 7.6 litre /100km is that good? first impressions are ,its a nice car and it sounds the dog balls! The rest of the week will be spent getting to know about all the do's and dont's with the car. Is it normal to feel excited ,sick and worried when buying your first ever porsche?? pics up later

Excellent news! Pics & specs next then :-)

Regarding do's & don'ts first thing would be to learn were all the drain holes for roof etc are then check they are clear (get yourself on ebay & search for a trombone cleaning brush they are perfect for the job). Secondly if its not raining (I am talking tropical storm type stuff) the roof should be down.

http://www.boxa.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=62774

Actually the above should be 2 & 3 as firstly do drive it lot's :-)

If the battery is in good condition and you use it at least one a week, you shouldn't need one
