My beloved 987 has had a pretty major engine failure and the repair bill using Porsche parts and an independent specialist is a bazzlion pounds. A friend has suggested that I put a quality recon engine in rather than just do the short block etc. Does anyone know of where I might find such an engine? The garage have said that if I provide the engine they will be happy to fit it.

Talk to Hartech in Bolton. They may be able to rebuild your existing engine irrespective of what has happened, they'll also massively improve the base engine & offer a warranty.

Jasmine Porshalink were advertising a water cooled engine the other day but I cant remember if it was Carrera or mid engined. Worth a quick call? Also 9apart in Ramsbottom are always breaking these cars so worth enquiring. For a rebuild: Hartech, as above.
