Evening all!

I have just returned from a weekend razzing around Exmoor and along the way discovered (informed by people in traffic queues) that my brake lights on Rex ('03 Boxster) were not working. On closer inspection they are working fine but then will flicker oddly and stop working entirely. Tested in a flat car park not moving anywhere and went through a range of flickering when pedal pushed, not working at all and glowing healthily...all in the space of about 10 minutes...
To add to this, had to change the nearside dip beam headlight bulb two weeks ago and now the offside dip beam bulb has blown (fuses all fine). I did hear a rumour somewhere that if you change one bulb you need to change the other as it will alter voltage or something?! (rumours hey!) this sounds a little suspect to me as I was under the impression they work on their own circuits independent of each other...
All of the lighting issues seem to have happened at once and it could just be my suspicious mind, but I can't help but feel it will turn out to be linked....Has anyone heard of or come across this sot of thing before in Boxsters or indeed any Porsches?

On a lighter note, pleased to have received my membership pack this week with discount info for lightbulbs!!

Cheers in advance of any responses

Brake lights sound like a bad earth, check terminals for corrosion, if there is any scrape it off. Bulb wise, if one goes it's most likely due to age and the other being the same age wouldn't be far behind?

Flickering, working on and off, bright and dim, all sounds like a bad earth as an initial start point.

If it flickering standing still then it is unlikely to be a dodgy holder then. More likely a bad earth or a brake light switch about to die. I'd try shorting the switch & seeing if this improves things.

Sounds like a brake light switch to me. Mine was dead when I got the car, quick cheap fix and they're fine now. Lights would sometimes come on for a moment then would die again.
