There's a couple on Ebay for about £30. will have a ring around tomorrow to see if I can get one the same colour. Hopefully re-assembly will be fairly simple.

Sorry to hear this after all you went through with this car!! Good luck with sale, pretty sorted for the next owner.

Well yesterday actually, but swapped the stereo for the 3rd or 4th time in the Boxster. It originally came with an archaic Alpine headunit & 6 cd changer none of which were connected up, that'll be why it didn't work then. I temporarily put the H & B in from the 944 which worked well but I had to put back in the 944 when I sold it. I then put in one of Aldis headunits with USB & SD/MMC play as well as MP3 disk. Becky managed to break the front panel latch on the one in the MX5 so swapped mine into hers & her broken one into the Boxster so we had some music when we went to the Charity day at Snetterton the other week. Then bid & won a Sony head unit off of E Bay & swapped that in on Sunday. Sounds good, not sure if I'll swap back when the Aldi one comes back from repair. Although the Sony is MP3 disc only, no USB or Meemory card. It does have Bluetooth though same as the Aldi unit.

One trick worth knowing if you're doing this yourself is that the a/c panel above the radio removes by unclipping the fascia & undoing the two top screws. This means you can access the rear of the radio to pull the wires in & saves trapping them.

A dreadful, terrible day! Spent the morning in the Boxster, top down, Diana Krall playing, heaters on in the sun (clear skies in the slippery New Forest) - fantastic lightweight feel - oodles 'o fun! Home for lunch and a treat from the missus followed by a run out on the loooong A32 round to the brilliant Morestead Road in the oh so rigid and grunting Cayman S with Tom Harrell playing. Do I still want to sell the Cayman? Perhaps I could / should keep both? (and the missus), hmmmmmm.

"...a treat from the missus..."

He calls us twits, then tells us something or nothing about a threesome and now this. There's something in the air or water down around WazzerM way, that's for sure!

Managed to do one job on the Boxster today. Mine came with the vintage Nokia phone integration on the LH side of the console. Managed to get a Savannah centre console off of fleabay & swapped the cheek for the phone one. Miles of cable unplugged, some lost behind the console makes a great difference to the appearance :bounce:

I should post here more so that we attract more to do the same as it always seems a bit quiet here in Mid Engine land so here's one to start trhe ball rolling :D

More last Friday than today but finally got round to fitting my Waeco heated seat kit thats been in the garage since I bought the car 18 months ago! Only did the drivers seat in the end as it took ages with several 20 minute gaps of erm how does that come off there & we might have gone to the pub at dinnertime too but around 5 hours to take seat out, strip covers, fit heating elements, put seat back together, fit to car. Had done the wiring the week before & thats easy as you get a made up harness of fuses, plugs, relays, etc that just needs routing then an earth & 12 volt feed (picked up an ignition only live from spare fuse box). A long, fiddly, labourious job rather than difficult but well worth the effort on the roof down in the dark on way home from local TIPEC meet last night. Passenger side will be easier/quicker now I know how everything comes apart.

Thats 2 of the 4 must do's off my list (better audio with Sony mechless head unit currently running standard speakers with amp removed (these will be up graded at some point & maybe build speakers into rear storage shelf bit), heated seats, refurb wheels & cruise control) with wheels being refurbed this week that just leaves cruise control to tick off.

Last weekend i re-painted my Brake calipers matte Black (dirty speckled grey isnt an available colour,), and satin black with new decals, they now look the bees of the knees. I also this weekend plan to refurb my windscreen wiper arms.

Hi All.

Still wrestling with the car Idleing at 1100 rpm. So this weekend i removed the Throttle Body for a good clean, oh my word did it need it, absolutly shocking, so Idle issue or not it needed doing. Found the Issue as once removed, the Idle control Valve was seized solid. After a nights soaking in Electrical cleaning fluid better but still rubbish. So decided to take it apart, removed the pin small twist and could see how bad it was. Much carefull scrapeing and now brake cleaning fluid (Electric and Magnet moved away). Refitted and Now accelerates a Lot smother and Idles nicely at 800 rpm.

So really pleased good weekends work.
