Hi all.
Having had an accident with the "Boxster" Boot Decal and gone naked for a while, I've just purchased a Black "986" Decal, I'm just wondering if anyone else has put a new stick on/self adhesive badge on their Porsche, my question is are they as simply as line up (carefully) and press on ? the back seems to be sticky but although I cant see it on the sticky tape I thought there would be a peel off backing ? can anyone confirm either if they have done it.
Thanks.
Steve.

Hiya Steve, I have replaced the "Boxster" badge with another "Boxster" badge (went for a chrome look one though) and it had a peel off backing. I know this is a different badge to the one you have bought but I thought any reply is better than no reply. Good luck with it and let us know how you got on. P.S some after pictures would be nice :D
Cheers,
Andy Bruce.

Hard to explain but...

Use some masking tape to make a horizontal line where you want the decal, stand back and check you are happy it is straight. Maybe make a mark in the centre of the tape where you want the centre of the badge to line up with

Then peel back the backing, just to expose about 5mm at the bottom of each letter/digit

Fold the backing paper and apply some masking tape to the folded edge doubled back on itself at each end, this will give you two pulls to pull back the backing tape

Then press the badge against the boot in line with your taped horizontal line.

Pull the two tabs you made from masking tape towards your rear screen slowly, while holding down the badge.. this will peel back the backing while the badge is pushed down

Does that make sense?

Thanks Andy, and JM that was a brilliant thread and very detailed and very clear to understand, thanks again, however I didn't see it until after I did mine Doh! I did use masking tape to get the correct line and center of the boot, the De-cal came with a clear sticky window that helped position the Badge correctly, there was no tear off sticky back on the numbers they were just on a grease proof type of backing, so you just stick the numbers evenly face up in the window, line them up just above the masking tape line, press hard jobs a good un, I did put a piece of thin hardboard across the numbers and put two clamps on it to squash them on good and proper, as I couldn't accept there wasn't a backing tear off on the numbers themselves, I even used a magnifying glass to check.
Here's some photos.as requested.

Me for one lol, but when I was putting it on I got in a bit of a muddle having mixed the numbers up, it got me thinking was there a difference between the 6 and the 9, and in the end I convinced myself there was, I hope I got it right though. :?

It's the "8" that gives it away - small circle on top (well that's what I figured anyway) :)

Yes order a 968 (black in my case) decal and re-arrange them.
