Hi Guys,
I have recently bought a 2003 3.2 Boxter, I need to replace the front pads and discs, my brother (maintenance fitter) is up for the job, can you tell me are there any hidden nasties or should it be a straight forward job? Also, when it comes to car insurance am I best to stick with the comparison websites or is a specialist Porsche outfit any better?
Thanks
Paul

Paul, pads & discs should be easy on a Boxster, I'm sure an owner will be along in a mo to give you more details!

Personally I'd become a TIPEC member  and try some club insurer.

Hi.
I changed my back pads today,(2003 2.7) if you or your brother have ever changed brake pads before doing them on a Boxster is by far the easiest I've ever done, not to sure about the discs should be the same, mind you I did have a Boxster manual handy, didn't have to use it, just watch out when taking the pad wear sensors out they tend to break, not to worry about them if they have been worn down, you will have to replace them anyway.

Just be VERY careful when removing the caliper bolts... they strip very easily.. as your brother is a fitter by trade, ask him to have a helicoil or timecert kit to hand in case the threads strip out of the aluminium hubs.. a bit of a design fault as the bolts are steel and protrude out of the other side of the aluminium lugs on the hub, so the tip of the bolt rusts and so strips out the thread as you unwind it.
